Congratulations to the Friends of the Northern Rail Trail! Their patient and skillful work in developing private-public partnerships has led to the state’s purchase of six-tenths of a mile of rail right-of-way to extend the Northern Rail Trail south to the Boscawen-Concord line.
FNRT led a fundraising drive resulting in a $110,000 payment to the state to make the purchase. Jack Shields, FNRT Board Member presented Governor Chris Sununu with the check at the March 25 ceremony to celebrate. Next step: trail construction. The trestle bridge over the Merrimack River marks the southern end of the purchased property, at the Boscawen-Concord line.:
