Good news: the Warren Rail Trail has a new Beaver Deceiver. Frequent flooding and washouts had been a persistent problem, so Skip Lisle of Beaver Deceivers International was called in to see if he could help. And he could!
This turned out to be one of Skip’s more complicated installations in New Hampshire, requiring the assistance of Mt. Moosilauke ATV Club President Tom Babbit and his excavator to remove boulders, mud, and branches deposited by industrious beavers that had blocked the culvert.
The project was a wonderful collaboration between the Mt. Moosilauke ATV Club, NH Rail Trails Coalition (NHRTC), Cross New Hampshire Adventure Trail (xNHAT), and NH Bureau of Trails.
The result? Water can flow, the trail is protected from flooding and washouts, the wetlands remain intact, and the beavers can continue doing what beavers do best!
A win for the trail, the wetlands, and the beavers!
