{"id":815,"date":"2019-11-26T20:31:48","date_gmt":"2019-11-26T20:31:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nhrtc.org\/?p=815"},"modified":"2019-11-27T01:40:33","modified_gmt":"2019-11-27T01:40:33","slug":"nhrtc-october-26-conference-a-success","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nhrtc.org\/nhrtc-core\/nhrtc-october-26-conference-a-success\/","title":{"rendered":"NHRTC October 26 Conference"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/nhrtc.org\/blog\/\">IN THE NEWS:<\/a> NH Rail Trails Coalition October 26 Conference<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Months of thoughtful preparation led to an exciting day of discussion on topics of concern to active rail trail users and organizations:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Background of major accomplishments since 2005: over 48 miles of new trail completed on just the Northern Rail Trail.<\/li>\n<li>View from state officials in DOT and Trails Bureau: no dedicated funding for bike\/ped rail trails.<\/li>\n<li>Rails to Trails Conservancy supports multiple efforts to connect segments within individual trails: Granite State Rail Trail; Cross NH Adventure Trail; Bridges across Connecticut River linking New Hampshire to Massachusetts &amp; Vermont.<\/li>\n<li>Actions of the Legislature: multiple bills concerning OHRV issues.<\/li>\n<li>Permitted uses of e-bikes on rail trails.<\/li>\n<li>Protecting local landowners from the ravages of ATVs.<\/li>\n<li>Harrisville\u2019s successes in connecting isolated stretches of the Manchester &amp; Keene line using donated bridges, skills, and financial support.<\/li>\n<li>Efforts to acquire abandoned railroad corridors in the Hamptons and Concord.<\/li>\n<li>Possible routing of the Granite State Rail Trail between Concord and Manchester using an on-road detour <em>west<\/em> of the Merrimack River.<\/li>\n<li>Cross New Hampshire Adventure Trail use of rail trails and lightly traveled roads is getting a lot of attention.<\/li>\n<li>Challenges in maintaining a hard-pack trail.<\/li>\n<li>Launch of our new NH Rail Trails Coalition web site : <a href=\"https:\/\/nhrtc.org\">https:\/\/nhrtc.org<\/a><\/li>\n<li>There were 44 attendees.
