{"id":7410,"date":"2026-10-19T13:11:32","date_gmt":"2026-10-19T13:11:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nhrtc.org\/nhrtc-core\/?p=7410"},"modified":"2026-10-19T13:11:32","modified_gmt":"2026-10-19T13:11:32","slug":"running-challenge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nhrtc.org\/nhrtc-core\/running-challenge\/","title":{"rendered":"Running Rail Trails to Meet The Challenge!"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3 data-pm-slice=\"1 1 []\">Congratulations to John!<\/h3>\n<p>John didn&#8217;t just complete the Challenge \u2014 he\u00a0earned the coveted\u00a0New Hampshire Rail Trails Challenge Patch\u00a0by RUNNING every rail trail on the Challenge list!<\/p>\n<p>John began his adventure November 6, 2021, running the Fisherville Road to Carter Road section of the <a href=\"https:\/\/clsrt.org\/\">Concord\u2013Lake Sunapee Rail Trail<\/a>. The very next day, he tackled the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.traillink.com\/trail\/heads-pond-trail\/\">Heads Pond Trail<\/a>, followed just a few days later by the <a href=\"https:\/\/belmontnh.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/38\/2025\/09\/Maps-WinniTrailBrochure140618.pdf\">Lake Winnisquam Scenic Trail<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winnirivertrail.org\/\">Winnipesaukee River Trail.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Over the next several years, John continued exploring New Hampshire&#8217;s rail trails, one run at a time, finally completing the Challenge in August 2026. His final stretch was particularly impressive: within just a couple of weeks, he completed the <a href=\"https:\/\/explorekeene.org\/places\/biking\/cheshire-rail-trail\/\">Cheshire Rail Trail South<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhstateparks.org\/find-parks-trails\/recreational-rail-trails\/upper-coos-recreational-rail-trail\">Upper Coos Rail Trail<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhstateparks.org\/find-parks-trails\/recreational-rail-trails\/presidential-recreational-rail-trail\">Presidential Rail Trail.<\/a> And for his grand finale on August 20, he ran New Hampshire&#8217;s newest rail trail, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/nhseacoastgreenway.org\/\">New Hampshire Seacoast Greenway<\/a>!<\/p>\n<p>When asked about his most memorable experiences along the way, John recalled three particularly vivid moments:<\/p>\n<ul data-spread=\"false\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhstateparks.org\/find-parks-trails\/recreational-rail-trails\/sugar-river-recreational-rail-trail\">Sugar River Rail Trail:<\/a>\u00a0The fast-flowing river bordered by lush green river grasses.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fnrt.org\/\">Northern Rail Trail:<\/a>\u00a0Beautiful autumn foliage surrounding Mascoma Lake.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhstateparks.org\/find-parks-trails\/recreational-rail-trails\/cheshire-recreational-rail-trail\">Cheshire Rail Trail North<\/a>:\u00a0A sudden, heavy rain cascading down the rock cuts northwest of Keene.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>New Hampshire&#8217;s rail trails, -experienced in all seasons and all kinds of weather!<\/p>\n<p>Congratulations, John! You&#8217;ve earned your Challenge Patch and some well-deserved bragging rights.
