Exploring NH's Rail Trails

Inaugural NH Rail Trails Bike Tour = Great Success

By May 31, 2026 No Comments

The first-ever NH Rail Trails Bike Tour brought cyclists from across New Hampshire and beyond together for five days of riding and exploring some of the state’s premier rail trails. The tour visited five regions of New Hampshire, including the Granite State Rail Trail, Cheshire Rail Trail, Mascoma River Greenway, Northern Rail Trail, Ammonoosuc Rail Trail, and Presidential Rail Trail. Along the way, participants met local trail advocates and learned about the partnerships, restoration projects, and volunteer efforts that continue to expand and improve New Hampshire’s rail trail network.

The tour was made possible by Diane Kolifrath and Steve Hayes of Great American Bike Tours, New Hampshire’s only bicycle tour company, which provided transportation and support throughout the journey. Riders enjoyed excellent weather, scenic landscapes, local hospitality, and newly improved trail surfaces, including recently completed ledgepack projects on the Ammonoosuc Rail Trail. The success of this inaugural event demonstrated both the quality of New Hampshire’s rail trails and their growing potential to attract visitors, support local businesses, and promote bicycle tourism throughout the state. Plans are already underway to offer a similar tour again in the future.
